Night Fishing Experience
Choose to visit fishermen on Lake Kivu and learn about the community's history and culture. Enjoy the trip with scenic views of the surroundings while waiting for the fishermen to begin their journey at 5 p.m.
Join the fishermen in their excited traditional boats, accompanied by their fantastic music, and paddle with them to the middle of the lake. This fishing operation provides “Isambaza night fishing” as well as guided boat trips in Lake Kivu by fishermen who make a living from fishing. Isambazas are tiny fish caught with a huge net and three large boats linked together.
The use of pumping lamps to attract fish, as well as panoramic lights reflecting on Lake Kivu from nearby cities in the Republic Democratic of Congo, makes night fishing an unforgettable experience!
We return to the lakeshore by motorboat at 8 p.m. and drop you off at your hotel whether it is on the lakeshore, or we drive out.
In addition (client’s option)
You may wish to accompany the fishermen on their return trip to the shore and observe how they sell the catch; continue this encounter in the early morning about 5 a.m. and observe how they remove the net from the Lake and return to the shore with fishermen to sell ISAMBAZA before returning to the hotel for breakfast.
