8 Days in Rwanda and Kivu Communities
Day 0
Greetings and Briefing of the Trip
You will be met and greeted by your trip guide and he/she will brief you on your Safari and overnight
stay in Kigali and relax at your Hotel/Place
Day 1: Kigali-Akagera-Kigali
Game drive
After an early breakfast, Drive and pass through Rwanda’s spectacular landscapes and living lifestyles on
our way to the only Savannah park in Rwanda, Akagera National Park, and the home of big five. Start the
morning game drive in the Parks for 6 hours from South, spot animals including Lions, Elephants,
Giraffes, Hippos, Zebras, Bushbucks, Waterbucks, tops, baboons and most recently Black Rhinos, some
species of birds and so many others in several habitants which include woodland, swamps, lakes and
Savannah;. Enjoy the picnic lunch in the middle of the park, and continue to the north to exit and drive
back to Kigali and Overnight Kigali.
Day 2: City Tour in Kigali
In the morning after breakfast, you are going to see Kigali, Capital of Rwanda.
Start the city tour by visiting museums, markets, Mount Kigali and Gisozi memorial site for learning
more about genocide against Tutsi of 1994, and campaign against genocide.
Overnight Kigali
Day 3: Drive to Musanze
Early in The morning, you will be picked from your hotel in Kigali, after a few hours you will reach
Musanze and visit Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, The Community based tourism culture centre. At the
village, you will have a wonderful, interactive experience, learning all about Rwandan traditions, cultural
songs, and dances. You will be given a chance to participate in local dances and drum, all while wearing
traditional local “Umushanana” dress; shooting arrows, you will also have the opportunity to sample
local food and banana beer and visit a local household or school.
In the afternoon, Canoe is waiting you to paddle with a guide in Mukungwa river and spot birds and
enjoy the perfect view of volcanoes and meet communities, after that, driver at evening to the hotel and
overnight in Musanze.
Day4: Virunga National Park - Rubavu
Golden Monkeys in Virunga National Park
Early in the morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to Volcanoes National Park headquarters for
your golden monkeys trek. You will arrive at the main office at 7:00 am for a short briefing and coffee
break before going on your trek.
Return at lunchtime and then Drive to the Lake Kivu in western of Rwanda. Check in the hotel and relax
on the beach, and at the evening time do the boat ride with the fishermen and overnight in Rubavu.
Day5: Full day in Rubavu visiting the communities
Leave the footprint in the community walking in the village to interact with the locals, and experience a
unique opportunity to learn how Rwandans make their own household materials using clay. Activities
include participating in mixing clay, sand and water and make a handmade craft of your choice. After
boat to experience traditional healing practices, while hiking with a traditional healer on their healing
trail, you learn about different herbs and medicine used for different types of illness. Finally, you enjoy
and participle in traditional Rwandan dances using traditional music instruments and overnight at
Rubavu.
Day6: Rubavu - Rusizi
Early in the morning, you will be heading to the west-southern of Rwanda. Stopover in Kibuye will award
you the views of the Lake and Lunch time. Along the way, you will enjoy the thousands of beautiful
green hills that make up our country as well as views of Kivu Lake. Visit environmental museums to learn
a lot about environmental planys, flora and fauna, and after, enjoy the Lake Kivu by motorboat ride to
Islands to see velvet monkeys and bats on the Napoleon Island and a short walk to Peace Island before
continue our way to Rusizi and overnight in Nyungwe or Rusizi.
Day7: Chimpanzee and Canopy in Nyungwe National parks
After your early breakfast, you will enter the Nyungwe forest to trek for chimpanzee. A walk into the
forest with knowledgeable guides well versed in botany, ornithology, and interspecies relationships will
be a whole new learning experience for you. You will return to the guest house for lunch.
In the afternoon, you can either opt for the Nyungwe canopy walk or a nature walk to the waterfalls and
Overnight in Nyungwe.
Day8: Nyungwe – Huye – Kigali
After early morning breakfast, you will drive going out the Nyungwe Forest. On the way, you will visit
Ethnographic Museum of Butare , Nyanza King’s Palace in Nyanza build in 1934. Nyanza was the capital
of the ancient Rwanda Kingdom before the arrival of the Europeans. Afterwards, we drive you in Kigali
and overnight in Kigali.
