Two days Hike & Camping on Island

Day 0: Greetings and Briefing of the Trip

You will be met and greeted by your trip guide and he/she will brief all about the trip and overnight stay in Rubavu and relax at your Hotel/Place

Day 1: Rubavu - Cyimbili - Island

Walk around the Lake Kivu with stunning views; interact with local in villages with their daily activities and smiles for 18 Km. Relax on the beach with traditional dancers at evening time, we take a motorboat and overnight on Island

Traditional healing and dancing

As a visitor, you will experience traditional healing practices, while you hike with them on their healing trail, and learn about different herbs used for different types of illness. The Association also offers traditional Rwandan dances using traditional music instruments such as zither, lamellophone, horns and others.

Boat ride

A beautiful guided motorboat to the Gishayu Island awarding a beautiful view of mountains and meet of the fishing boats with an optional to join them in their activities.

On the Island, where you can spend a night on a camp site, we set tents and have a fantastic night BBQ around the bonfire and fall asleep under the beautiful sky dotted with beautiful stars. Our site camping have shower and washrooms.

Sunset traditional fishing experience

This fishing activity offers “Isambaza night fishing” and guided boat trips in Lake Kivu by fishermen who sustain their lives by fishing. Isambazas are tiny fishes, caught using a widespread net and three large boats connected to each other. The panoramic lights that reflect on Lake Kivu from neighboring city in Republic Democratic of Congo makes the night fishing activity an amazing experience.

Day 2: Island – Kibuye

After breakfast, later take motorboat to visit islands, hike Napoleon Island for a circle perfect view, swimming option, a walk on island to spot birds and end our trip to Kibuye.
